2 friends and I enjoyed 4 hours in clear sunshine walking around this premier site and
wherever you pointed a scope their are thousands of birds to be seen, good to see the 2 whitefronts mingling with brents
a good number of ruff and dunlin, single water pipit several thousands golden plover, brent goose ( including a hybrid black brant) wigeon,
teal, pochard, tufted, and pintail most in breeding plumage, 2 marsh harriers and merlin over saltmarsh
This reserve is always a joy to visit, and a credit to RSPB staff who manage the site.

regards John

After further discussion with Ed Mackrill with whom I watched the BB and reviews of online data we have now
decided the brant is a black brant, (almost clean white flanks very black head and breast and broad white collar the mantle changed hues as it turned in the bright sunshine) it was in a flock of c1200 feeding on the scalp adjacent to reserve.

Thanks John.

Will keep an eye out for the brant.
