It's normally late January when I'm out on the beach, about half an hour after dawn, that I see the first Norfolk P-f Geese making their journey northwards. Last year, the first flocks I saw were mid January, but this morning, they were even earlier. From 0815hrs to 0850hrs, between 1,000 and 1,200 PfG were flying northwards on a broad from from the dunes to 2 miles out out to sea.

We have had 700 roosting out on the beach for much of the winter and feeding on the grass fields, but they began to spread out after the New Year and up to 400 can now be seen some miles away. Perhaps they will soon be leaving as well.

There were 3 Tundra Bean Geese with the PfG, but no sign now for over a week.

Regards,
Cliff

Baumber, 0850hrs

c75 Pinkfeet circled calling over the farmyard in disarray for a moment before reforming into V formation and heading west towards Lincoln.
