2nd winter Iceland Gull at N Quay, Grimsby Dock (nr Kirwins), for at least an hour lunchtime yesterday 13th Feb. Sorry for delay in reporting - forgot procedure. I thought that this was probably same bird as sighted recently by James Smith on 2nd, but on comparison of photos (mine on photo album care of John Clakson) it would appear that these are two different birds . Also adult Med Gull on other side of docks. I just dove down N quay having sighted the bird from the other side of the docks , and found it on a roof near Kirwin Bros fish. Photographed and watched for nearly an hour - was then challenged by a security man who asked for my photography permit. I told him that I had been coming to the docks for 30 years without any problem but politely had to stop photographing. To watch only would I feel not have been a problem. The security man said that if I went to the APB office that they would probably grant me a licence for bird photography. But in a bit of a huff I drove off to Covenham instead.
