Dunsby fen: Green tagged Marsh Harrier hunting the rough ground the village side of French's Farm early afternoon, it then flew back along the drain right down to the the Forty foot and then came back again, passed the farm and then, nearly at the village, found a thermal and spiraled up until it was just a dot in the binoculars. Hawthorpe; Definitely two, probably 3, Sparrowhawk, 2 Buzzard, 3 kestrel, 1 Kite and one SEO which came out about 4.15pm just when the light had gone from bad to really bad. Cheers, Oliver. |

Hi Oliver, That's interesting. I had a female marsh harrier with green wing tags on each carpal at RSPB Freiston Shore on Saturday at about 2pm. I wasn't close enough to read any inscriptions, but thought the text/numbers were in black. There haven't been any other reports here so perhaps she was on the move. I'll try to find out where she's from.... John |

Hi John, this bird has been around Dunsby for a while, its tags are LD and is from Norfolk, see report below from December. Hi Nigel, Thanks for reporting the sighting of a wing tagged Marsh Harrier. LD was ringed and tagged at the RSPB reserve at Lakenheath Fen on 12.06.2014. It was one of two and sexed as a female, with its' sibling being a male. This is the first sighting of this bird, so many thanks. For further information on the scheme take a look at our web site at www.nwnrg.co.uk Thanks Phil Littler North West Norfolk Ringing Group Cheers, Oliver |

Nice. Reg Rice also sent me a photo of the same bird. I understand there are two green-tagged birds in the Freiston to Butterwick area, presumably also originating from Norfolk and also presumably different to the Dunsby bird. Cheers, John |

Hi all, The wing tagged bird has been at Dunsby and other local fens at least since October. From earlier reports on this forum I thought it had been identified as ringed at RSPB Lakenheath... I still think there might have been two different green wing tagged birds at Dunsby as one I saw seemed only to have a tag on one wing.. best regards, Ian |

Yes, sorry Lakenheath, Suffolk not Norfolk. This bird had tags on each wing. I have seen two Marsh Harriers together at Dunsby on one occasion but couldn't be sure about tags. Cheers, Oliver |
