A chilly afternoon wildlife-watching at Belton House this afternoon produced the following:
Buzzard - 9 circling in sky above the House!
Also....
Nuthatch - 1 in house grounds. A County Lifer for me! Greater Spotted Woodpecker - 1 drumming Goldcrest - 1 Great Crested Grebe - pair on lake Tufted Duck - about 12 on lake Great Tit - loads working on their 'Teacher teacher' calls. Blue Tit - very numerous in trees Robin - at least 10 Chaffinch - many singing Wren - 1 singing by house Mallard - usual on lake and 1 male trying to eat my trainer laces in the car park!
Time and weather didn't permit a visit to the woodland around the Bellmount Tower, but I'm sure I'll be revisiting when the weather's warmer!
Mammals - usual Fallow Deer grazing the open grassland, lots of rabbits and the usual Grey Squirrels around and about.
2 Kestrels seen. 1 between Sleaford and Heckington on the A17 home, and another near Swineshead Bridge, again on the journey home.
