Couldn't resist sharing my sightings of the minimum numbers of lesser redpolls in my front garden since Christmas. I suspect that they have been there everyday since the turn of New Year with me just not recording them on a few days. The garden at the front is of minimal size with a tiny square of lawn ruined by niger seed scattered by hungry redpolls and goldfinch. The feeders are hung in a small flowering cherry tree. Funnily enough without having these birds everyday I would have seen just two this year Date Jan Feb Mar 1 01 56 31 2 - 42 64 3 01 36 48 4 - 38 28 5 - 44 52 6 - 37 49 7 03 44 17 8 - 28 27 9 - 42 25 10 - 37 12 11 - 42 15 12 03 59 34 13 05 44 07 14 04 40 29 15 06 61 29 16 09 47 19 17 10 43 42 18 10 47 32 19 - 43 20 12 49 21 11 40 22 27 51 23 29 29 24 17 29 25 26 42 26 - 32 27 - 38 28 35 42 29 39 30 43 31 51 |

My thoughts exactly, Phil. To get regular texts from Chris with increasing numbers provoked jealousy. Mind I think the half hour sat in Chris's living room provided my Lesser Redpoll for the year! |
