Chris Atkin & I started day in Weelsby Woods. 1 Chiffchaff, singing - finally present. Much later than last year's + later than others in Grimsby area (e.g. Freshney).
Coast was disappointingly quiet for a day with such clear conditions and southerly (verging south-easterly) winds - the chill to the wind perhaps being the main culprit for little to no spring migrant movement. Highlights as follows depending on area:
Donna Nook
1 Hen Harrier (ring-tail), 1 Marsh Harrier moving through, 2 Peregrine, 2 C. Buzzard, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Pintail (F), c. 12 Twite, c. 8 Rock Pipit
Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR
1 Hen Harrier (ring-tail), c. 30 Shoveler + 1 drake Pintail on Paradise Pool.
