A walk yesterday around the Wolds, Dalby in the north, Toynton All Saints in the south, produced this unremarkable list – in order of appearance:
Between Partney Bridge and Hundleby – green woodpecker x 1, blackcap x 1, several reed buntings and yellowhammers.
Keal Carr – chiffchaffs, reed buntings (several)
East Keal – pair of common buzzards
Toynton all Saints – green woodpecker x 1, common buzzard x1
Spilsby – flock of +/- 50 linnet in field south of the town, common buzzard x1
Partney – swallow x 2 on wires by the school
Skendelby Thorpe – vocal mistle thrush, goose with questionable parentage on the lakes
Dalby – pair of c. buzzards over the woods, pair gt. crested grebe on the lake
Langton (Church Carr) – bullfinch.

Plenty of usual garden birds, plus singing chiffchaffs and green woodpeckers heard at all locations, but sadly no tree sparrows or corn buntings.

Geoff
