On a brief visit this morning en route to the Yorkshire Wolds I was surprised to hear one and almost certainly 2 Cetti's Warblers on the reserve, one about 50 yards landward side of the new (Steve's?) hide. |

Glad you heard the cetti's Stuart, we have 6 singing birds on Site this year (march survey) and I still have to pinch myself when I take them for granted. |

It was a very pleasant surprise, Andy. I think it is the first time I've heard one in Lincolnshire but I'm pleased that there are at least 6 at Far Ings. The increase of their range into the county probably makes them the Little Egrets of the passerine world! |

A big push last year and still increasing: I have found singing males at 3 new sites this spring and know of two other new sites; some birds can be very quiet while others sing frequently so it is easy to overlook the quiet ones: I would be interested to hear from people surveying other sites to see if numbers are up in other areas this year. And would encourage people to check suitable habitats in the county: information from the coastal strip was very poor Lin 2013 for instance. Still working out the Barton- Barrow Haven total this spring but looking like 13+ males |
