The Blue-headed Wagtail showed again this morning with around 10 Yellow Wagtails and 5+ White Wagtails still. Also a Common Sandpiper on the north east side, but no sign of any Wheatears. |

That's surprising. Had at least 8 Wheatears there this morning. Hugh |

Visited Toft Reservoir 17/04/15 afternoon Blue headed wagtail had been seen by another birder, not seen by us. We saw several White & Pied wagtails on the reservoir apron. There were about approximately 15 yellow wagtail in the field to the north of the carpark with the sheep in it. We also saw 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Dunlin and a Bar-tailed Godwit. Best Wishes Derek |

Saturday morning, What race of Yellow Wagtail are the finders allocating this bird to? From the image in the album it would appear to have a white throat and chin and a lack of white supercilium which would rule out it being a 'flava'. |

I think the super can be quite variable in strength and there is a hint of one in front of the eye so I assume it's a poorly marked flava John |

I can't find the image referred to by Michael but I have been back out to the Reservoir and the BH Wagtail is still present, this time on the opposite side of the reservoir from where I first picked it up (i.e this morning it was 50 yards to the left as you get to the top of the steps). The super was very distinct and it therefore looked like a typical flava. Also present; Ring Ouzel - 1 in the same spot as first reported (close to the hedge 100 yards to the right from the entrance) Wheatear - 1 Tree Sparrow - 3 White Wagtail - c8 Yellow Wagtail - 3 Buzzard - 1 Greylag Goose - 3 (flew over) Sand Martin - 7 Swallow - 2 Oystercatcher - 2 |

Saturday, PM Apologies to all concerned, I now realise the photo I was referring to was the one by Dean Eades of the Frampton bird. My fault, I automatically assumed that it was the Toft bird as I associate Dean with that site!! I saw my first 'Flavissima' of the spring this afternoon at Shearmans in the form of 2 males. This morning I saw my first House Martins in a farmyard in West Ashby. They were busy collecting mud from a puddle so were cracking on with nest building. Everywhere could do with a rain soon, especially the farm, if only to provide mud for returning hirundines. None forecast though for the next week! |

Poignant words Michael, Blackmoor Bridge scrapes are drying up by the minute, the site is absolutely at the mercy of the elements. As Grahame Hopwood pointed out to me regarding the Blackmoor situation, rain-dances had better commence if a good spring is to be enjoyed by all! Regards, Ben. |
