The best birds at the south end this morning were 2 Turtle Doves, a Spotted Flycatcher, Cuckoo, Wheatear and Marsh Harrier. 82 Swallows flew north. |

Do you think there is a general increase in turtle doves this year Steve? |

There's no evidence yet of such, Colin, but it is still on the early side for Turtle Doves. Locally, last year was the poorest I have known for the species, and very few young birds were apparent on the autumn passage which covered only a very short period. It is all a far cry from the good passage flocks that we used to see regularly. |

Yep, who could ever have guessed the turtle dove crashing like this. There have been a few sightings/images recently which just made me wonder (hope) they might be on the increase. Oh well, tally ho. |
