Highlights (mild understatement) from woods this morning:
- 1 adult male Hen Harrier over - 1 Cuckoo - 1 Yellow Wagtail
I am still in disbelief about seeing the Hen Harrier. Had I not been looking at a Blackcap in a tree I would not have noticed the raptor passing overhead. I dashed to the nearest bit of open sky space to try for a photo but it had presumably wheeled around and gone in a different direction as I was unable to relocate the bird either flying or perched. An absolutely fantastic record for the area and a humbling sight of one of our most persecuted raptors.
Regards,
Josh Forrester
