Being a good boy and getting a report finished at 1830 this evening, I saw in the corner of my eye a bird catching flies on my windowsill. It turned out to be not the blue tit or pied wagtail I expected, but a 2cy male Black Redstart. It's our second here in 14 years, the first being on 26/10/2011. I realise this species is on Schedule 1 but if it breeds here I will eat my hat (Ashdown 2015). |
