An early Merlin was chasing Starlings and Linnets without success at the south end this morning. Not much was passing at sea in the very light wind, hence between 0915 and 1045, birds to the north included 3 Arctic Skuas, 5 Gannets and 8 Common Scoters. Waders heading south along the tide-line were 104 Oystercatchers, 24 Curlews, 49 Whimbrels, 3 Redshanks, 25 Dunlin, 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 21 Sanderlings and 40 Knot. A Razorbill was on the sea and 14 Lapwings, 5 Golden Plovers, 118 Sandwich Terns and 6 Common Terns were onshore.
