A Bittern is back at the mere, it was seen to fly from the north reeds to the south reeds at about 10:15 this morning. This is the first sighting since February and is my earliest record of a returning bird. Also present 4 Little Egrets, 3 Grey Herons, 4 Tufted Duck (3 young), 5 Great Crested Grebes (2 young) and 12 Common Terns (3 young). |
