My first Great Skua of the autumn was on the sea before departing to the south on this morning's high tide.. Also heading south were 73 Sandwich Terns, 212 Common Terns, one Arctic Tern, 7 Common Scoters, 3 Eiders and a Whimbrel. Counts would have been higher but for periodic banks of dense fog rolling in. Seven Greenshanks were on the flashes and a Corn Bunting was still collecting food for its young. |
