At 1535, the protestations of Swallows drew my attention to a juvenile Red-footed Falcon flying south along the dunes near the old coastguard cottages. I saw it well, but not for long before it passed over the dunes and continued on the seaward side just at the onset of rain.
I was unable to get to the dunes until this afternoon and as a consequence there was less activity on the migrant front in the stronger wind and drizzly conditions. The main migrants recorded at the south end were 7 Pied Flycatchers, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, 2 Whinchats, 2 Common Redstarts, 10 Willow Warblers, one Tree Pipit and one Goldcrest. Also noted were 10 Common Swifts, 2 Green Sandpipers, one Common Sandpiper, 2 Greenshanks, 7 Kestrels, a Marsh Harrier and a Common Buzzard.
