One on Carr Lane allotments early afternoon, feeding on ants on pathway, sods law no camera with me!, my best bird on here since a singing Nightingale a few years back.

Good of you to post this so soon after seeing the bird, Dave.

I nipped down soon after 5pm, on the off chance it might still be showing.

Unfortunately, but understandably (especially at this time of year), the
allotments (at the Beeley Road and Bestall Road entrances) were padlocked.

I spent about 40 minutes looking through the security fencing, but no luck.

I had never been there before. It looks like a really promising habitat, especally for warblers and chats.

Do you have a species count, Dave?
