Approx. 50 House Martins overhead at one stage before work this morning and the feeders were overwhelmed by 25+ House Sparrows.

Plus another unID'd bird overhead. Moral of tale always have bins to hand even when repairing a punctured bike tyre

As the saying goes "what a difference a day makes". The same period this morning saw a grand total of nil House Martins though 4 Swallows went East(ish).

Cheers

James

Re your unid'd bird.

Honest man - huge respect!

I love it when birders own up to seeing birds they have either failed to identify or wrongly identified.

I now feel I can admit to a clanger of a few weeks ago. The bird was feeding on mud at the edge of a lagoon on Tetney marshes.

Briefly I had it down as a new global species - a short-legged redshank.

Then it flew off and revealed its identity.

It was a stock dove.

Are any other members willing to confess to past gaffes?
