A foggy morning on the patch and when I arrived at the mere visibility was only about 100 metres. As the fog began to clear I was amazed to see 4 adult Avocets asleep in the shallow area opposite the hide. This is only the 2nd record for the patch, following on from the bird I had on the 25th August.
Also present
1 female Pintail, 1st record for the year.
1 Kingfisher.
1 Reed Warbler.
1 Little Egret.
9 Cormorants.
Shoveler, Gadwall, Teal & Mallard (not counted due to poor visibility at east end of mere).

4 Avocets still present this afternoon, feeding actively despite the loud music being blasted out from nearby.
No sign of this mornings Pintail.
