Hemingby, 7th December

Grey Wagtail:-
One appears to be wintering on the R.Bain. It has been foraging around my cattle yard on occasions which is only 200m from the river.

How common/regular are they in other parts of the county? Here in Louth I hear and/or see them probably everyday so tend not to comment on them

I used to visit Sewage Treatment Works as part of my job and I would see Grey Wagtails regularly. Very common in Winter months and breeding at several sites during the Summer. As the General public do not have access to these sites they probably go unrecorded. I still see them quite frequently across the county. A good place to see them is the River Slea at Sleaford or along the River Bain.

Grey wagtails winter on Keal Hill using the various small streams/rivulets on the south side, and occasionally my garden pond. No idea how many, but hear/see them flying over most weeks during the autumn/winter,

Up to 4 have been regular every Winter in Dunsby, moving between the dairy farm and the sewage works.

Very regular in Gainsborough town centre area, especially Marshall's Yard shopping centre roofs for some reason.

Currently we do not have any records this year of Grey Wagtail at Dunsby, Gainsborough or Keal Hill. If you could send us the details (where, when and how many) we would be pleased to enter them onto the LBC database.

Many thanks and regards,

S&C
