A Great Grey Shrike was a welcome find by the scrapyards at the end of Ark Road (TF427978). It flew into an adjacent hedge where it posed for distant record shots at 0800, but there was no sign of the bird when Mark Johnson looked shortly afterwards, nor when I returned at about 1100. However, there is plenty of suitable habitat between here and North Somercotes. A few more thrushes, 2 Twite, 3 Whooper Swans and a Woodcock were seen on the dunes. Northerly passage at sea in one and a half hours included 47 Shelducks, 24 Wigeon, 12 Common Scoters, 34 Teal, 11 Mallard, 3 Goldeneye, 4 Goosanders, one Shag, 2 Kittiwakes, one Little Auk and 2 Guillemots.
