The adult bird referred to in the above post that I identified in the field late yesterday afternoon as a Caspian Gull, should be downgraded to unidentified status. Within an hour of leaving the sighting I duly sent a couple of digi-scoped record shots taken in terrible light and in pretty appalling conditions, for expert comment (as I always do). Feedback received this afternoon based on the photographs of the bird was negative with regards to it being a Caspian Gull, stating that it structurally looked more Yellow-legged Gull like and that a dark-eyed argentatus Herring Gull with an un-streaked head couldn’t be ruled out.
Apologies
Regards,
Ben
