Post subject:  Louth to Covenham

A 7 hour walk today along the Louth canal to Covenham Reservoir and back produced 67 species. Highlights for me were:

1 Hen harrier male 2nd winter on Grainthorpe Fen
7 Buzzards
8 Kestrels
1 Sparrowhawk
1 Peregrine near Brackenborough Wood
3 Kingfishers
4 Grey Heron
8 Little Egrets
4 Grey Partridge including 1 singing
Mistle Thrush and Song Thrush both singing
2 Pink footed Goose on the Res with the Greylag flock
4 Pochard
140 Fieldfare
50 Linnets

Was the singing partridge in a pear tree Phil ??, happy new year.

Happy new year to you too John, I cannot be certain as I did not see it, however I do not recollect any pear trees in the vicinity ;-)
