Dull, misty morning but 55 species recorded on patch. Highlights were:- 1 Bittern flew into reeds in front of hide. 6 Lesser Redpolls. 1 Water Rail calling. 5 Little Egrets. 38 Lapwings. 3 Song Thrushes. 3 Mistle Thrushes, incl 1 singing. c30 Redwings. c10 Fieldfares. 18 Pochard. 3 Great Spotted Woodpeckers. 3 Reed Buntings. 2 Yellowhammers. 3 Goldcrests. 1 Bullfinch. With Rick Bennett, Ben Ward, Brian Pearce & John Hayes. |
