A mixed flock of finches was found this morning, feeding on a beet field down pig lane. The flock comprised about 90 Linnets, 40 Chaffinches, 30 Goldfinches, 30 Lesser Redpolls, 20 Greenfinches and at least 1 male Brambling. Brambling is a scarce bird on the patch and this is the first I have seen since 2013. Also 1 Reed Bunting, 1 Skylark & 1 Pied Wagtail.
1 Little Grebe was new on the mere and 2 Egyptian Geese flew in from the cow fields.
15 Pochard, 10m & 5f, were present.
