A walk around Belton from 09.15 to 12.15. Following species recorded: Mute swan Greylag Canada goose Mandarin, drake on R. Witham Teal, 2 prs. on R. Witham, + drake on upper lake. Mallard Tufted duck Little grebe 1 Gt. crested grebe, pr. Grey Heron 2 Buzzard, up to 3 together Moorhen Coot Stock dove Wood pigeon Green woodpecker Gt. spotted woodpecker Pied wagtail Wren Robin Blackbird Fieldfare 1 Song thrush 2 Mistle thrush 3 Chiffchaff 1 Goldcrest Long-tailed tit Coal tit Blue tit Nuthatch Treecreeper Magpie Jackdaw Rook Carrion crow Chaffinch Goldfinch Greenfinch Great tit I was out for a walk, not a survey, so I didn't count most of the expected common species. The Mandarin was the only surprise, though I don't think I have recorded teal there before. |
