In the latest BBRC work in progress file there are several missing Lincs rare birds for 2015 that have presumably not been submitted eg Little Bittern Kirkby, most of the Black Stork records, off hand Reads Island, Alkborough, Tetney, Saltfleetby and ? Nearby, Clee, and maybe others?

Although I was lucky to be on site moments after the Little Bittern was found at Kirkby, I don't know who the "official" finder was although I suspect he/she may not have been a Lincs birder - apologies if he/she is. If anyone knows the ID of that person, can they urge them to submit, otherwise I guess a submission by others present will need to go in.

The Little Bittern was first seen by the brilliant Kev Shone, Garry Wright and John Farmer, who picked it up in flight from the hide. There were a lot of birders on site because they found the Squacco Heron the previous day!

They saw it fly into the corner and after a brief search it was refound, sat out low on some branches. It was one of my funniest birding moments last year. About 20 odd birders squeezed into the tiniest gap between two low trees which provided the only vantage point. It was like a game of sardines! It then flew into the trees opposite and afforded much more comfortable views from the path.

I remember Steve Routledge being there too.

Thanks for the reminder Daniel, I remember now that Kev et al were the finders. I haven't seen him post on here, do you have contact details to jog his memory and get a description submitted, please ?
Cheers
Phil

Just a reminder that there are a couple of pictures of the Kirkby Pits Little Bittern in the album.
This is one of them.

I will have a word with Kev and Garry and get them to submit a record. By the way the link in Roy's post does not take you to the right picture.
