Cetti's Warblers 2013

The spread and increase of Cetti's warblers in the county appears to be unstoppable but it is becoming more difficult to keep tracks of birds -- this is an excellent time of year to work out territories as birds are in full song and it would be useful if people could cover known and potential sites and records the number of birds present.
As an example I have covered Barton - Barrow Haven most days in the last week and have so far recorded 28 different singing males this compared with 16 occupied territories in 2015; I record locations of singing males on a map derived from aerial photos as this allows identification of habitat types and cuts down on duplication of males simply added to a broad location in the notebook.
Just how many birds are now established along some of our major river systems where no birders walk?

I'll start you off with 2 males signing along the Sincil Drain 400m & 500m down stream of the old railway station at Washingborough noted 18th March

Negative news from the Witham, 1 km upstream and 1 km downstream from Kirkstead Bridge in Woodhall.

Took a walk along the Humber between East Halton Skitter and Goxhill Haven earlier today and noted 8 male Cetti's Warblers singing from within the Hawthorn hedges and thickets along this route:

First one in the hedge adjacent to the gas incomer East Halton Skitter
A second by the old fishing pond adjacent to the river bank
Five in the hedge row between the old fishing pond and LWT Dawson City NR
The 8th one was singing from within the copse at LWT Dawson City NR

A Cetti's Warbler was at Frampton Marsh today.

Hi Graham - pretty certain what I heard were Cetti's Warblers. I did also note several Chiifchaffs whilst out on my walk.

1 song in LWT reedbed near Seaview and Great eau another near Great eau old oxbow/common,

In 2015 1 was at Chapel Pit 1 at the Adjacent Chapel six marsh , 1 Wolla Bank and 1 Anderby marsh near the round tower.

it is not just lincs, in a recent visit to fairburn near leeds i counted 4 singing birds. it seems like yesterday that cettis was first recorded near coventry. a hard winter i fear will reek havoc but the spread continues, good news in these times.
