An excellent mornings birding at Whisby, arrived at 0600hrs and left at 1200hrs, covered the whole reserve. Highlights being...

Nightingale 6 singing birds
Garden Warbler 42
Blackcap 34
Willow Warbler 29
Chiffchaff 14
Sedge Warbler 6
Reed Warbler 3
Whitethroat 5
Lesser Whitethroat 6
Med Gull 2 ad sum
Common Tern 1 (mobile)
Song Thrush 6
Bullfinch 8
Common Buzzard 4 (thermalling high over reserve)
Jay 2
Egyptian Goose 2
Black-headed Gull 1500+

Suprisingly very few hirundines about only 3 Swallows noted.

Lots of butterflies on the wing too; several Green-veined White, Orange-tip, Speckled Wood, Comma, Peacock and Brimstone. Also, a Large Red Damselfly.
