Post subject:  Water Rail Way - Lincoln to Bardney

Early morning cycling along the WR way .

Highlights Total count of 143 Mute swans with 101 of these being close to Bardney lock all juvs and non breeders .
At least 6 sat on nests at various points along the route .

Many , many whitethroats , 1 Grasshopper Warbler, 11 sedge warblers , Black caps close to Stamp end near Lincoln .

Many Reed Buntings . 3 Yellowhammers , Great and Blue Tits , Robin , Blackbird , Song Thrush , Greylags with 3 goslings , 1 great Crested Grebe , 1 Little Grebe , 1 Kingfisher, 7 Tufted Duck and numerous Mallard , 2 Buzzard 5 Carrion Crows and 1 Kestrel .

Exercise and Birding cannot be beaten .

Wetlands near to Bardney Lock and Five Mile house still retaining surface moisture - possibly good for Lapwing and Redshank breeding success !
