Post subject:  Bat v nightjar

A nightjar was being harried by a bat (sp) at Laughton Forest last night. Never witnessed that before, but I imagine it might be a regular occurrence. Not exactly the same as a skua v tern encounter (no disgorging took place), but it was interesting to watch.

Incidentally, onshore oil/gas exploration company Egdon Resources has abandoned its site at Laughton. There was drilling to 1700 metres in February and March, but nothing was found in commecial quantities so the well will be plugged with concrete and the land above it restored to agricultural use.
