Baumber, 3rd August

Adult Turtle Dove foraging on the ground viewed from my office window at 7am this morning whilst I was filling envelopes with the 2014 Bird Report!

I have had regular sightings now since May but once again, as in the past couple of seasons, they have been elusive. Calling regularly from the garden but only a single bird ever seen, the male, and no concrete evidence of breeding.

What I have, however, is confirmed breeding of a pair of Spotted Flycatcher in a private garden in the village with a brood of 3 chicks which should fledge by the weekend. I am assuming this is a second brood as it is in a neighbouring garden to where a pair was reported earlier on in the year.
