Mist and fog, frequently dense, hampered observations at the south end this morning. Migrants seen were 9 Willow Warblers, 7 Common Whitethroats, one Lesser Whitethroat, 6 Reed Warblers, 6 Pied Flycatchers, 5 Robins and 2 Whinchats. Also of note were 3 Whimbrel, one Greenshank, one Green Sandpiper, one Mediterranean Gull, one Hobby and 5 Grey Partridges.

Highlights at the north end between the RAF base and the northern perimeter of the realignment:

3 Spoonbill and a Garganey were on the realignment as were a Ruff, 3 Greenshank, 2 Common Snipe, Common Sandpiper, Water Rail, an adult Med Gull and a Kingfisher. 2 Whimbrel flew over.

The Osprey was sat out just south of Pyes Hall as the mist rolled in late morning. Other raptors seen were Marsh Harrier and 2 Peregrine.

Passerine totals were quite disappointing considering the combination of overnight rain and NE winds: 1 Whinchat, 1 Wheatear, 2 Yellow Wagtail, 5 Lesser Whitethroat, 8 Common Whitethroat & 10 Willow Warbler

Regards

Chris
