I have a very comfortable seat in the back of my Peugeot Partner and with the tail gate up I can watch without being duly bothered by the elements and have a stable platform for my scope. Perhaps I was able to take in more distant birds because of this? The horizon was always dodgy at the best of times!! Apologies to Roger Labbet for omitting to mention that he was also with us for some time this morning. |

It is always fascinating to see the birds recorded at sea from different points along the Lincs coast. I was at Mill Hill, Gib from 0630 to 1030 (KMW present most of the time too) and had the following: Pink-footed Goose 31W Shelduck 6N Teal 207 Pintail 4 (2S and 2N) Common Scoter 117 Fulmar 14N Manx Shearwater 16N Cormorant 108N Grey Heron 9 (1S and 8 in/off) Slavonian Grebe 1 drifting south offshore Great Skua 1S Auk sp 9 Common Tern 40 Common/Arctic Tern 12 Grey Wagtail 2S Rock Pipit 1S Brent Goose 6N Wigeon 66 Mallard 5 Shoveler 3S Red-throated Diver 15 (3N and 12S) Sooty Shearwater 62N Gannet 83 Great Crested Grebe 1 on sea Arctic Skua 11 (3N and 8S) Guillemot 4 Sandwich Tern 80 Arctic Tern 3N Kittiwake 6N (5 ads and 1 juv) Swallow 11N Yellow Wagtail 3S Along with the high tide wader fest I cannot think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning. Will be down again later this aft for more. Regards Nige |

steve it was from the car park near the cafe about 10/12 of us there, i was there from 07.30 till about 14.00 it was towards mid day way out near the platform heading north. one chap had a radio someone else picked it up and radioed the info to him and about 4 of us got a very distant view, only guessing around twelve ish because we were to busy with all the passing stuff, think that 100 sooty's very conservative estimate 900 went past flamborough. we also had great northern south. the info on the gull came from down your way towards the hide. tried to get in the hide but no chance lol. take care steve |
