A late Common Swift was floating around the Stonebridge area from 0830 until at least 0900. The first Hen Harrier of the autumn was hunting the realignment area where other raptors were 3 Common Buzzards, one Marsh Harrier, 2 Sparrowhawks, 5 Kestrels and a Merlin. Also of note were 140 Teal, 115 Wigeon, one Pintail, 6 Gadwall, 8 Greenshanks, 2 Spoonbills, 33 Little Egrets, 100 Meadow Pipits, one Rock Pipit, one Lapland Bunting, one Grey Wagtail, one Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Chiffchaffs, 2 Goldcrests, one Wheatear, one Spotted Flycatcher and 2 Common Redstarts. 66 birds were trapped and ringed at the south end and included 2 Common Whitethroats, 2 Reed Warblers, one Blackcap and one Goldcrest. |
