Managed a couple of hours at the coast this morning, but pretty quiet. At Chapel Six Marshes the highlight was a Short eared Owl which pitched into the dunes just a few feet from where I was stood. Not sure who was more startled it or me, but it soon took flight although did show well for several minutes quartering the marshy area. A Great spotted Woodpecker was present in a small clump of willows before heading south, 8 Goldcrests were seen with several more heard, but other than that birds around the dunes were limited to 4 Long tailed Tits and a few Robins and Dunnock. On the move overhead were 6 Skylark west, single Reed Bunting north and 3 Swallows south. A brief look out to sea saw 3 Gannets south, a Great crested Grebe south, single Guillemot north and 2 auk sp. south.
A quick look around Chapel Pit produced a single Chiffchaff, 3 Goldcrests seen (plus a few more heard), couple of Song Thrush over, few Robins and a male Kestrel.
