Only managed a short patch visit this morning before I got a return home message.

However I was surprised to manage a patch tick of Stonechat (enjoying the delights of the dog swimming area*)

* so ha to those who sneer at it! [-X

Only other sightings of note were juvenile Wigeon and 5 Common Gull.

Cheers
James

I confess that, in the past, I never missed an opportunity to bleat and winge about that dog swimming area.

But that's because I remember the time, pre-canine, when the muddy edge used to attract sandpipers and other waders on passage.

Nowadays, I don't complain.

The fact is that that part of the lake is very, very popular with dog-owners. So why should killjoy birders be allowed to spoil their fun?

There are probably a thousand dog owners/lovers to every birder. And some are both.

Let the dogs keep splashing, say I.

(On the subject of stonechats, there were at least two this morning on Cleethorpes coastal nature reserve.)

The 2 Stonechat at Clee LNR have been present since at least 27th Sept, * a large skein of @500 Pinkfeet went sth over Weelsby Woods this morning at 10.20.
