A couple of hours were spent on the tide-line on this morning's rising tide. The very calm conditions and flat sea meant that birds were easy to see and were fishing quite successfully. At least 40 Cormorants were present on the sea between Quad 3 and the RAF base along with 43 Red-throated Divers, one Black-throated Diver, 7 Great Crested Grebes, one Red-necked Grebe and 4 auks sp. Two Velvet Scoters flew north and 2 Long-tailed Ducks and 60 Brent Geese passed to the south. Waders present included 71 Bar-tailed Godwits, 95 Curlews, 220 Sanderling, 1,100 Golden Plovers and 700 Lapwings. On the dunes were 6 Whooper Swans, one Stonechat and 2 Long-tailed Tits.
