The highlight of the day was the presence of 24 Lapland Buntings and 18 Shore Larks showing well together in the tide-wrack opposite the Quad 3 building. Note that this section is out of bounds when the bombing range is in operation. Other birds of interest included 6 Whooper Swans, 2 drake Eiders, 2 Red-throated Divers, a Guillemot, a Merlin and 34 Twite.

After you had left Keith, along with Geoff Mullett, we re-checked the flock of Shore Larks and numbers had increased to 22.

And at least 30 Lapland Buntings plus a juv Peregrine that looked like the possible Tundra bird seen in November

i have seen a tunda bird graham, thats a big one, i thought it was a gyr to start with, great big broad chest, heavy markings wow
