Went to Willow Tree Fen and had good views of Bluethroat. On the return journey at Kirkby Underwood: Red Kites x8, Common Buzzard x3, Kestrel x2, Peregrine and 7 Roe Deer. Osbournby: Kestrel and 2 Common Buzzard (sat in a field). Leadenham: Common Buzzard(again sat in a field) and a Kestrel.

Are you sure that they were Roe Deer? Fallow Deer are the common deer around here along with the more solitary Muntjac. Roe Deer are present in the fens to the east but rarely venture up to Kirkby Underwood where there are literally hundreds of Fallow Deer.

Regards

Ian

I thought Roe Deer on the basis of the white rump and all brown, but one did have Fallow Deer characteristics consequently I agree they would be Fallow Deer.
