At about 09:30 this morning I was walking across the old Skew bridge tip, looking for Whinchats, when I flushed a small group of Carrion Crows from the ground in front of me. Four of them landed on fence posts and I was amazed to see that one of them was a Hooded Crow. It sat facing me for about 20 seconds before flying of north on its own. It was a classic Hoodie with black head, bib, wings and tail and a completely ash grey body. No sign of any black on the body. My first on the patch and a most bizarre record for May!
