It was heartening to see a newly-fledged Cuckoo near Porter's Sluice on the realignment area this morning. It was being attended to by a pair of Reed Warblers that were quite agitated by my presence. It has been the poorest spring I have known for Cuckoos here. A Common Sandpiper was also present on an otherwise quiet day.

We walked round the realignment area late afternoon. Saw half a dozen Black-tailed Godwit, 13 Dunlin and lots of Avocet. On the north side of Pyes Hall a Kingfisher was a pleasing sighting.
