Several species such as Dunnocks, finches and buntings had significantly increased in the bushes at the south end, but the numbers of night migrants were far less than anticipated. Of note were ca.20 Robins, 6 Song Thrushes, 370 Meadow Pipits, 4 Siskins, 3 Goldcrests, 3 Chiffchaffs, 2 Blackcaps and singles of Common Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Redstart, Whinchat, Wheatear and Brambling. A Marsh Harrier and a Merlin were also recorded. The high tide was almost up to the dunes when a fine juvenile Long-tailed Skua flew leisurely north along the tide-line at 0915. Also seen were 9 Gannets, 6 Brent Geese, 18 Wigeon and an adult Yellow-legged Gull. |
