Back to the black hut today and i discovered a sign that says Grainthorpe Outfall. Anyway i now have a choice of names. Weather clear but breezy in 3 hrs saw as follows. A local birder whom is not in the bird club his name i think is kevin spark a local builder so we had a chat and he said he would consider joining the club, so we may soon have a new recruit. Next the birds,
26 whimbrel flew over calling over from spurn direction and landed to the rear of donna nook.
Small groups of swifts all heading southerly 60+ over 3 hrs.
4 little egret
2 common sands
3 kestrel
Lots of common stuff nothing special, just a beautiful 3 hrs of quite and peacful birding. Made you feel glad to be alive!!, thats not bad when you consider the alternatives.

hi terry, it was named the black hut by a few of us lads from cleethorpes who often went along there as kids, birdwatching along the seawall, and later on wildfowling, and if you stand and face the new pumping station and walk towards it,you will come to a large old beam with a date on it , this was the site of the old black bitumen covered shed that served as the cover over the manually operated lock winding gear.as byron says ,and he was one of us , it,s all automated now.good spot for the kingfisher as well.
dont stop believin.
