Thanks first of all to the two people that let me look through their telescopes!

Little Terns provided me with another tick to my list! A few Common Terns were around.

Didn't see the Curlew Sandpiper.

EXTREMELY impressed with the very dense metropolis of Knot that greeted me when I poked the bins out of the hide for the first time - there must have been thousands!!!

There were Turnstone, Redshank, Grey and Ringed Plovers mixed in. Lots of Oystercatchers too, in almost equivalent numbers to the Knot. Beautiful Black-tailed Godwits were present.

2 Cormorants stood preening themselves for a while, sometimes adopting the 'spread wings' posture.

Lots of the Black-headed Gulls have lost their black heads, so now I guess they're just Headed Gulls! Lots of Herring Gulls too, with Juveniles in tow.

Other notables - Canada Geese (with young), 2 Greylag Geese, 5 Tree Sparrows, Swallows, Mallards, Starlings and Greenfinches.

What did surprise me is that during the 3 hours I was there, I didn't see a single Avocet. Presumably they have migrated now?

STAR PERFORMERS OF THE DAY: Definitely the flock of Knot!
