Hi

After a few days of dwindling sightings, we have decided to close the viewpoint from 7pm today. The juveniles are now wandering further and further afield, so we will not be re-opening again (this year at least...). Apologies to anyone who has yet to make the pilgramage, but these things can never last for ever. We were initially hoping to run the viewpoint until 27 August, but the birds were more advanced than we thought, with fledging taking place approx two weeks earlier than anticipated.

Many thanks to all of you who did visit the viewpoint and helping us to have a great summer. We certainly enjoyed running the project, we hope that you enjoyed watching the birds.

Thats all folks!

Paul.

Well done Paul and company from the RSPB for a well run site. It is at all possible to list all the species of bird that were recorded from the site. Local birders would appreciate reading the lists.

Thanks
Graham Hardy

I'll second that. Thanks for all your time and effort, and I hope RSPB membership has been boosted by your efforts.

One regret was that I didn't see the youngsters despite four visits - but didn't the two adults give a memorable show a week last Sunday

Certainly better than the black kite which I didn't see in three visits

A truly remarkable eleven-raptor summer in Lincolnshire topped by the Montagu's Harriers at Digby Fen and with regular sightings of Marsh Harrier, Buzzard and Kestrel there. With luck (unlike Chris G's experience) one could happily connect with Black Kite at Nocton Heath and Osprey at Ancaster, with frequent sightings of Hobby,Peregrine(including Lincoln Cathedral) and Sparrowhawk at one or the other site. And didn't someone mention Hen Harrier as well recently, not forgetting breeding Red Kite in southern Lincolnshire.

Regards,

Freddy
