A nest of near-fledging Marsh Harriers in wheat was fortunately spotted in time by a combine driver, in mid Lincolnshire this week. I have never heard of Marsh Harriers still in the nest in mid-August before - some two months later than normal and is presumably the result of a relaid clutch following a failed attempt in wet weather earlier in the season.

Alan,

I'm sure you are right it must be the weather, I have a hobbies nest hear in Peterborough with young only just starting to get flight feathers! I have heard of a few already fledged. Things dont get any better and I'm a bit worrried as they are right at the top of an exposed ash tree which has been blown to hell over the last few days with all this wind.
