A productive morning by my standards! MARSTON STW 1 Jack Snipe 4 Com Snipe 18! Green Sandpipirs 1 Common Sanpiper 3 Curlew 6 lapwings 1 Willow Warbler (singing) 8 Sand Martins 30+ each of Swallows and House Martins 1 Wigeon 38 Teal 20 Mallard Belton Park 1 Raven - mobbed by Jackdaws Treecreeper Green Woodpecker 8 Stock Doves Ropsley 1 Hobby Ian |

Hi Trevor, No mistake as 3 Common Snipe feeding only metres away and excellent views obtained through scope ( had it with me this time!) on far left pool as you sit in hide. 5 Grn sands in view too but an unseen raptor obviously appeared and no less than 18 Grn Sands flew up and over. Some obligingly settled in front of hide. JS was feeding for about 5 minutes, classic bird, before flying left in to long grass and vegetation. First JS I have seen this year so I was thrilled, then the Raven and Hobby on way home put the icing on the cake! Cheers Ian |

Wouldn't have thought it was that early Trev - it is September now... although this is the first reported in the whole of the UK this autumn, I believe... |
