Well I was almost half way on my bicycle to Toft before word reached me that the bird had departed north - only a 31 mile dip so not too bad as dips go. Thanks to Dean, John C, Andy Sims and especially Roy Harvey ( who answered a text at 3 o'clock in the morning from the USA in language that I would let my daughter read !!!! ) for all the help this morning in trying to get me to Toft asap.

Managed to catch up with the bird at 08.45 today, a long overdue lifer for me. Shame about the limp!!

It appeared to have landed in a Stubble field at some time and impaled itself on the straw, its leg was held up all the time, hope it survives.
